It’s been a minute since I’ve written a post here. Almost three years, to be exact. A LOT has changed! I’m sure for you, too. The pandemic happened, I gave up my longtime North Hollywood apartment, moved back home to Mendocino County, finally started a Cox Family Vineyards wine club, continued to make so many delicious wines alongside my sister and business partner, and ended up finding long-distance love with a guy I met back in college.
It’s hard to put into words how I personally feel about the last couple of years. They brought me some of the most depressing, soul-crushing, confusing moments of my life so far, but also precious time with my family that I’m forever grateful for and unexpected love I never want to take for granted.
At times, I kept wanting to write but found myself not knowing what to write about. Things felt and often still continue to feel so damn heavy. But, I think a lot of us are looking for an escape. We’re looking to elevate our everyday – a philosophy our wine label Boeket was founded on. We’re looking to shake things up after a time when things felt mundane or routine-esque, or maybe even hopeless.
So, Pinot & Peep Toes is reborn! There will, of course, be wine recommendations, travel tips and itineraries, a little bit of style sprinkled in, lots of lifestyle content, and dating advice because I still very much feel for all the single people out there (I was you for the majority of my 20s).
I hope blogs aren’t dead. I hope you’ll want to click on a new post of mine and dive in, sort of like how people read a Sunday newspaper over a freshly-brewed cup of coffee. There’s become a sort of nostalgia associated with blogs I think. I used to read them religiously in high school and college (Cupcakes & Cashmere, Gal Meets Glam, and Sterling Style were some of my favorites). Many have shifted their sites to be marketplaces where they sell curated goods and post fewer and fewer pieces of inspired content. Some really only post content they’re getting paid for. It’s been an evolution.
Personally, I just want to write about good shit. A glass of wine that really hit the spot or a restaurant that surprised me. A dating revelation or a perfume that’s actually worth the price tag. A hidden gem in a small town you’ve never heard of or a jar of olives I’m obsessed with. I hope my blog is a little slice of something interesting for you, a little corner on the internet that feels like a much-needed retreat, a place that feels like catching up with an old friend over cocktails.
Let me know if there’s something YOU want to see here on Pinot & Peep Toes! I’m all ears.
