Drink Pink: A Rosé Update

Rosé season is in full-swing and I couldn’t be happier! If you’re not already on board the rosé train (or rather, yacht), you may want to hop aboard. Leave your judgements at the dock because what was once considered a saccharine supermarket wine for “basic white girls” and maybe even your grandma, is making a serious name for itself. In my very first blog post, I shared a few of my favorite dry rosés. Here’s an update on my current favorites rosés, with two past favorites making this summer’s #yeswayrosé edit:

1. Chateau d’Esclans Whispering Angel ($21.99): One of the first rosés I fell in love with, Whispering Angel is the epitome of a Provençal-style rosé. It has apricot, white peach, strawberry, and a river stone minerality that creates a clean finish I adore.

2. Summer Water ($15): As the name implies, this is a light rosé you’ll want to drink all summer long. This domestic rosé has a bright palate of white peach, grapefruit, and touches of rose petal and lemon rind that’s perfect for poolside sipping. 3. AIX Rose ($14.99): If you’re looking for a crisp, balanced rosé that is perfect as an apertif or alongside seafood, AIX is ideal. This Provencal rosé has cherry, strawberry, orange zest, herbs, and definite spice on the palate.

4. Gerard Betrand Cote Des Roses ($12.99): This bottle is by far the most special of the bunch, as its base is carved in the shape of a rose and features a delicate glass stopper. Surprisingly, it’s the cheapest bottle of the bunch! Cotes Des Roses is on the lighter side with a soft, floral nose and palate of grapefruit, raspberry, and candied rose.

5. Banshee Rosé ($19.99): I absolutely love the complexity of this orangish-pink rosé; it’s a blend of Grenache, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Barbera. With this rosé, floral aromatics, hints of white pepper, and a soft minerality compliment fruitier notes of raspberry, nectarine, cherry, and orange.

6. Wild Thing Rendezvous Rosé ($15.99): The brightest pink of the bunch, this vibrant Mendocino County rosé is made from a unique blend of Carignane, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon.
